I have broad interests in the field of evolutionary palaeobiology.
Research Area
I conduct research across a wide range of topics, including the early evolution of eukaryotes, the Cambrian explosion, Burgess Shale-type fossils and preservation, the early evolution of sponges and animals, biomineralization, lacustrine palaeoecology, and ecosystem engineering through deep time.
Project Interests
I’d be happy to develop research projects across any of the areas listed above, but am particularly interested in pursuing word on early sponges – their biomineralization, evolutionary relationships, and ecological feedbacks. Recent research suggests that many of the long-standing assumptions about fossil sponges require root and branch revision.
