Cambridge NERC Doctoral Landscape Awards (Training Partnerships)

Postgraduate Research Opportunities

The Cambridge Research Experience and Advanced Training for Environmental Scientists (CREATES) DLA unites the University of Cambridge and the British Antarctic Survey as hosts with a range of collaborative partners. We have developed CREATES  via discussions with all partners and current NERC DTP students, who have helped to shape our vision.

We are committed to the cohort-based model of doctoral training and we believe that the CREATES programme will exceed UKRI expectations and deliver a world-class PGR training environment. UCAM and BAS have collaborated as hosts in two prior DTPs (ESS, C-CLEAR) and have a well-developed relationship in delivering training grants.

We are pleased to have coordinated relationships with a wider network of collaborative partners than our previous DTPs. All our partners share common values in terms of a healthy, inclusive work culture. Our PGRs will benefit greatly from the diversity of sectors represented, with opportunities for internships as well as networking during partner-led training and careers events. Collaborating partners have a number of roles in the DLA reflecting their unique contributions and strengths. All have contributed feedback to the design of our training programme. Many partners offer the possibility of internships, and those that are eligible have pledged to act as CASE partners. Representatives of our collaborating partners will sit on committees and will attend our annual events, ensuring that strong relationships are built over the course of the DLA and during each student’s time with us.
